MORBO TROPICAL

"MORBO TROPICAL" is a unique Skateboard Art Collection including ten handpainted Boards. The artistic project was born in Barcelona by the female artist Jil-Laura, who already did other exhibitions and events in the Board Art Culture.

The concept is inspired by the classic tropical Surf/Skate Culture of the Seventies with some dark Mafia touch located in the Miami Beach and California Oldschool Ambient.

Every Board is unique with its own story to tell. If you enter into the "MORBO TROPICAL" World, you will find colorful parrots, killed rich women floating in their ice cold Miami Beach Swimming Pool and more fascinating secrets.

/// COWGIRL'S PRAYER ///

Once upon the land down South
'neath the Lone Star sky,
a lonely cowgirl rides
as she hangs her head to cry.

She removes her hat in honor
in her native untamed land,
looking over the canyon
a yellow rose held tightly in her hand.

(...)

"One more thing I need to ask,
when you send my cowboy home,
make darn sure he knows we're Texas proud
in this land where buffalo roam."

/// "PURE PAINTING" with Ripping Magazine ///

To paint being nude is part of my artistic expression. For me it's a kind of pureness of nature what helps me to feel myself united with my art.

Since I started to paint boards and before, I used to do photographies by myself painting, expressing my deepest passion I have inside my body. For me it's really important that my soul and body are always connected and in harmony.

For my exhibtion "Arte Salvaje", ("Wild Art"), it was the first time that I let other persons to take pictures of me painting. It's a really private moment and I wanted people to see that process to understand better my art.

So David Botello, the photographer and owner of "Ripping Magazine" here in Barcelona, took some pictures of me painting the most important board of the exhibtion at my home. This photographies were exposed at my exhibiton "Arte Salvaje" jointly with the photographies I took with Sebas Romero and obviously with the painted Boards.

/// "RAINY DAY" with VICTOR GONZALEZ ///

It was a rainy day at the Barcelona Square "Eixample" and Victor took some pictures of me at my home, the place where my new ideas and inspirations are born and getting alive. The shooting is a mix of improvisation and intimity. I love it, thank you Victor.

/// "CRUSH ON YOU"... with SEBAS ROMERO ///

For my exhibiton "Arte Salvaje" ("Wild Art") I did a shooting with one of Barcelona's best action and portrait photographers: "SEBAS ROMERO".

He shooted me with my finished handpainted boards at his Studio "Black&Rad". It was a really great and interesting experience.

Sebas knew perfectly how to let out my wildest part I have inside me in only one hour. He captured my personality, my art and my passion for it. We had a great connection to combine my art with his type of photography. I am really in love with the end result.

His photographies were exposed at our exhibition "Arte Salvaje" joining my painted boards. They gave to the exhibition a great mix of art, photography, sex and wildness.

Here are the end results of our work together:

I also painted a costum board for Sebas and the boys of BLACK&RAD, just for giving them a little "thank you" for their help making the "Arte Salvaje" project reality. Have a look on the board here:
